Dinokeng Game Reserve has become aware of a fraudulent TikTok account using the Dinokeng Game Reserve name and branding to advertise accommodation and communicate with potential visitors.

The account uses the Dinokeng Game Reserve name, logo and photographs and has been sending potential guests accommodation quotations displaying the Dinokeng Game Reserve logo.

This account is not authorised to take bookings or receive payments on behalf of Dinokeng Game Reserve.

Please take care when booking accommodation

Accommodation establishments within Dinokeng Game Reserve are privately owned and operated. Dinokeng Game Reserve does not handle accommodation bookings or issue accommodation quotations on behalf of these establishments.

If you see accommodation advertised on TikTok or another social media platform using the Dinokeng Game Reserve name or logo, please do not assume that the account is legitimate.

Before making any payment:

• Contact the lodge or accommodation establishment directly using its official contact details.
• Confirm that the booking and quotation are genuine.
• Verify the banking details before making payment.
• Alternatively, use a reputable and established booking agency or booking platform.
• Do not make payment to an individual or account that you have only dealt with through social media.

How to identify the fraudulent account

The account we have been made aware of uses a variation of the Dinokeng Game Reserve name with an underscore at the end and uses Dinokeng Game Reserve branding and logos.

Please be aware that the use of an official-looking logo, photographs or the Dinokeng Game Reserve name does not mean that a social media account is authorised or genuine.

How to report a suspicious TikTok account

If you encounter the fraudulent account, or another account that appears to be impersonating Dinokeng Game Reserve or one of the accommodation establishments within the Reserve, please report it directly to TikTok.

To report an account through the TikTok app:

1. Go to the account’s profile.
2. Tap the Share button.
3. Select Report.
4. Select Report account.
5. Follow the prompts and select the reason that best describes the issue.

Have you received a suspicious quotation?

If you have received a quotation or booking communication that you believe may be fraudulent, do not make payment until you have independently confirmed the booking directly with the relevant accommodation establishment.

If you have already made a payment and believe you may have been the victim of a scam, contact your bank or payment provider immediately and retain all correspondence, quotations, screenshots and payment information.
